Sort of.
You can do voluntary work and paid work you can earn up to around £500/month without it affecting your benefits (i cant remember the exact amount but it is about 500)
BUT if you are very capable in your job and that doesn't match the description of the help you need when you applied for pip/uc then it will affect your benefits once they know about it.
Just as a hypothetical example: someone states they are on medication that makes it impossible to get up out of bed in the morning and they are very sleepy all the time. They then get a job starting 6a.m which is physically demanding and manage that job very well then dwp are going to be asking some questions!
Hope that makes sense.0 -
Ps pip is not means tested so you can earn as much as you want with that, and keep savings.
It's the UC where you can earn round about £500.
The made-up work example though applies to both benefits.0 -
There's no amouint of hours you can work while claiming UC. You will have the work allowance, which means you can earn a certain amount of money each month before the 55% deductions apply. If you claim for help with any rent your work allowance will be £344/month, if you don't then it will be £573/month.If you start working you will need to report a change of circumstances and tell them that you're working.0
