Hi I’ve ordered a mobility car signed for it got all the paperwork the payments are for total allowance at the rate now, the car won’t be here till July august, I believe pip goes up in April does that mean the payments will be total allowance then, or set at the amount I receive now? Hope someone understands that lol.. many thanks

Hi - yes, the new amount will be taken by Motability.  You should have received a welcome letter from Motability, it covers it in there.

No, that's not correct. Total allowance means exactly that, even when benefits increase. If it had a specific payment amount next to the vehicle (some do) then that's the amount you will pay. You will then receive the remainder of the mobility payment.

If this is your first motability vehicle then payments won't start until you've signed and collected the vehicle.

Thanks ..it’s just that the mobility lady said the payments will be £64.50 a week when she was doing the confirmation checks but the paper work says full allowance, so I assumed wrongly that £64.50 would be the payment,  and I’d receive the increase in April myself, all in all I’m very grateful for what they are doing anyway

Absolutely the same here...over more than 20 years.  However we have also never had a payment amount specified.

What you will receive once you've collected your car is a new vehicle payment of £750 and should receive it within a few weeks (often sooner) of collecting the vehicle. https://news.motability.co.uk/scheme-news/new-vehicle-payment-introduced/
This is a one off payment only paid once and once you receive it you can't ever have another. For others reading this, to qualify you must order a new vehicle before end of 2023.

    Hi Poppy,
I picked my car up yesterday and received an email today saying the £750 will be in my bank within 5 days.

Awesome!! How's the car? Nothing like the smell of a brand new car. Happy motoring!

It`s a beast! At the moment it feels like I`m driving a tank, having gone from a Fiesta to a Kuga.  It`s a lovely car, the ST Line x model.  I love the smell of new cars :)

The Audi A3 is a nice car too :)
I initially spent over a year waiting for a Focus on a personnal lease basis then I was awarded enhanced mobility, so decided to join the Motability scheme.   It took another 4 months before the Kuga was ready for collection.
I hope you get your car in August and that it doesn`t linger on like the Focus did (or was at the point of chaning over to Motability).

Audi have given me a provisional build date of July the 3rd with delivery 4/5 week after (touchwood) a friend was waiting 8 month for a seat then they told him it was now unavailable so he went for the kuga like you he’s well impressed with it

Hi! in general, changes to PIP rates may not take effect immediately, and it will depend on the specific policy of the country's government or relevant agency. You may wish to contact your PIP provider or local government office for more information on how PIP rate changes will affect your mobility car payment

There's no need to contact anyone. As has already been advised, when PIP rates increase the increase is paid to motability. This is why a lot of the vehicles available on motability say "total allowance" rather than a specific amount.

If the PIP rates increase in April, the new rates may apply to your mobility car allowance. However, the specific details may depend on the terms of your agreement with the mobility car provider and the policies in place. To get accurate information about how the PIP rate changes might affect your mobility car payments, it's best to contact the relevant authorities or your mobility car provider directly. They can provide you with the most up-to-date and accurate information regarding any changes to your payments based on the PIP rate adjustments.

This thread is from March 2023. As has been advised previously, when PIP rates increase each April, if your vehicle is "total mobility allowance" as majority of them are then your total mobility allowance will continue to be paid as normal. You will not receive the difference in the increased amount. See link for confirmation. https://www.motability.co.uk/get-support/faqs/what-happens-to-payments-if-allowance-increases/
