I have suffered with BAM since the lockdown. It took me nearly a year to get the diagnosis as GPs tended to suggest it was IBS or Diverticulitis. Fortunately a Gastroenterologist confirmed I had BAM. I was prescribed Sustain, which didn't work, and then Colesevalem, which did work. I changed my diet to gluten free including no processed food. No bacon sandwiches ever again!
Unfortunately Colesevalem is not out of stock and no indication of when it will become available again (it's made in Germany so maybe it is a Brexit problem).
I'm crossing my fingers that the BAM won't come back if I stick to my diet. Anyone else having problems accessing this medication?

Hello there @Susric and welcome to the community, thanks for posting today

I'm sorry to read about the colesevalem being out of stock at the moment. It does sound like changing your diet was a big factor in managing the symptoms of your bile acid malabsorption (BAM), so fingers crossed it won't flare up without the meds.
I don't know for certain, but I think access to medication generally has been more limited since the pandemic, as this isn't the first time someone has posted about having trouble with supplies!
Do keep us up to date with how things go in the meantime, and I hope you enjoy spending time on the community.0
