Overturned decision by tribunal

Hello and good morning all.

Hope you're all having a great day.

I found this forum/site through non stop worry since I left hospital a year last February due to subarachnoid hemorrhage (still awaiting actual confirmation of brain 😂).

It has been the worst year of my life, where I've had to sell my business, lost my vehicles.. But more importantly i lost my independence and piece of mind, spent a long time very confused and still am today, and wasn't willing to ask for help.

Was told to claim for PIP but did not have a clue what it was, so thought it was dole.. Over months and having it repeated to me sooo many times It started to sink in..

To encapsulate the next few months it was basically being denied on the points system by 2 points, appealed and was given 1 measly point more, so then had to wait months for another appeal which I then beleive it went to tribunal ( I may have missed a step), totally forgot about tribunal and to be honest that really is not something I could see myself doing at this point in time, but did send in all paperwork and info.

Had a letter back last week saying I've been awarded mobility and daily living at the enhanced rate.

I think it's the first time 15 months I've been able to take a deep breath and stop thinking about forcing myself into work when I'm not ready for it.

This post is to anyone in the situation I was in, of saying "NO, no chance am I standing in front of a tribunal judge... Just cancel it, if I can't get help by now I'm never getting it"... Hang in there and fight it through, I am so happy I've finally received help although I've not received anything yet I have read soooo many posts and replies saying up to 8 weeks after tribunal letter?

Anyway, thanks to all you helpers responding on these forums, I hope you understand just how much help you actually provide to us all - down to lurkers like me who are now posting for frist time 😂

Love you all ♥

Hiya ☺️. Not heard a squeak yet. Was kinda wondering if there is a phone to ring now that decision is set aside by tribunal, but haven't really bothered seeing as I've waited 15 months for some help, what a few weeks more 👀...

That's correct. If they do request the Statement of reasons they this timescale could be increased. They sometimes request it but rarely appeal it.

    Good afternoon all.

Quick update, week 5 since I received tribunal letter and decided to ring them before bank holiday - although I had rang weekly just asking if there was any news.

Today the young lady said "wait a second, and I'll put you through to appeals department" ...

A bloke then proceeded to get me to confirm bank details, andress + post code, whether I'd been in hospital or prison, maybe 1 or 2 other questions - then he told me amount awarded (4 weekly) and that the backdated amount would be paid soon.

So that's my update - thought I'd update for people in the same boat right now just waiting.

Have been offered a bungalow yesterday and finally some news on pip today... Good things come in 3s
.. I'm more than happy with just the 2 ♥️

I think maybe if I hadn't rang in today it could have been a longer wait, or maybe it was just coincidence 🤷‍♂️

Hope you enjoy the bank holiday weekend, and relax now this is done and dusted.

Another week, rang in for update to be told this time they haven't received a letter back, i said ' I received my letter from tribunal 6 weeks ago... We've had that one but we're waiting on another one she said.. . I just accepted whatever answer that was, and wished her a nice day.

@Stuuuu Ah I'm sorry to hear you're still waiting but it sounds like you've got the right approach in not getting too het up about it. Fingers crossed it won't be long before that payment arrives.

You have a lovely weekend, it sounds like you have a big positive change coming up with the bungalow so that's a great distraction.
