Hi im just posting on behalf of a friend of mine who wants to ask about the cost of living payment he signed on to universal credit on the 22nd of january but i think the first month is a assessment period which ended the 26th feb would he still be eligible for the payment as the gov site says this
“ You are eligible for the first Cost of Living Payment of £301 if you were entitled to a payment (or later found to be entitled to a payment) of Universal Credit for an assessment period that ended in the period 26 January 2023 to 25 February 2023.”
Sorry if its a stupid question just abit confused about this hes not sure if hes missed the date by a day or not? Thanks

If he started his claim on 22nd January that means his assessment periods will be 22nd to 21st of each month. If he was entitled to a payment of UC for that period then he will be entitled to the payment because his assessment period ended within the timescale.0

Then he doesn't qualify because his assessment period will have ended on 21st March, which is outside the qualifying criteria.
