Hi,

I will try keep this brief. I’ve been awarded LCRWA , I was given a decision two days after my WCA last week. I’ve received a back pay letter and due to unbelievable **** ups on their part I am due a back payment. I’ve had a message on my journal to say the back payment has been sent straight to the debt management team for recovery of a child tax credit debt from over ten years ago when my daughter was born.

If I even begin to say why I was awarded LCRWA you wouldn’t believe the last three years. I had a tiny glimmer of hope when I received those first letters last week now they have used it to pay back a joint debt with my abusive EX husband that’s the main reason I’m in the position not to work.

My question is has anyone had this happen to them? I want to dispute it with the debt management team. I’ve had to use food banks and really struggled the past 18 months when I should have been receiving this extra money.

Bereavement, DV , abuse and left riddled with debt after a divorce has left me a shell of a woman and this has just added to the sadness.

Sorry I meant to say it’s all been calculated correctly ie the assessments period etc. I’m not disputing the amount I’m just livid they’ve sent it to debt management for a debt so old, in my married name for a condition I’m living with every day and have had multiple operations and hospital stays for .

You are responible for 50% of the debt. If it's more than 50% they are asking you to repay then you can dispute that. They can use the money they owe you to repay the debt.

You can also contact debt management and tell them about your financial situation and ask them not to take all the money you owe. Is your UC already being reduced to repay the debt? If so you can also mention this.

Regarding deleting your post, only a member of the scope team can do that so i'll tag them for you now. @Adrian_Scope @Hannah_Scope @Cher_Scope can you help here please.

Hello @jacs2024 and welcome to the community. Were Debt Management able to help you with this?
Please let me know if you're still wanting your post removed and don't worry about being irate, it's understandable given the situation.
