Hi
I stopped working in 2021 and began caring for a family member, due to having a long term illness. I made a claim for UC at the same time so I never had a work coach nor did I need to supply UC with sick notes. A year later, I find out that I should be entitled to Lcwra due to my health conditions. Therefore, I made a claim and supplied backdated fit notes from my Doctor for the previous year. Today, I received information that I am entitled to Lcwra. My question is this, will they back date my payment from the date of the first sick note, March 22, or from April 23, when I made the claim?

It’s unlikely they will accept a backdated fit note but it will be down to a decision maker to make the final decision. There’s a full 3 month assessment period waiting time and the extra money is paid from the 4th month after you reported your health condition/sent your first fit note.If you reported your health condition is April it’s likely to be either either Aug or September when you’ll receive your first payment.1
