Half a point

I can't seem to find any info anywhere but my mother just got 7 and a half points from PIP. :/ Yeaaaahhh.... she's going through reconsideration at the moment but has anyone else EVER got half a point? I've never heard of them awarding half points before!

That must be a typo because it’s not possible to score half a point for any descriptor. The lowest scoring descriptor is 1 point. https://www.citizensadvice.org.uk/Global/Migrated_Documents/adviceguide/pip-9-table-of-activities-descriptors-and-points.pdf

    Hi @djn2023

Sounds like a nightmare! From what I know that must be an error in the paperwork. The laws for PIP don't have half points in there anywhere.

Does it say next an activity 0.5 points have been awarded in the table or is it written in the paragraphs?

    Hello @djn2023

That is unusual! How is she getting on going through the reconsideration process?

So half a point from getting an award and half points shouldn’t exist?

that’s a new one on me and you are right to question it

It says 0.1, it was apparently a misprint? But at the same time someone at DWP said 0.1 was half a point when she called for clarification.
She then called again a little later and got someone else who said it was impossible.
    Very weird situation lol!

I thought it may have been. Was that someone from a call centre by any chance?

Some of the people who work at the DWP don't know 'PIP' as well as they should.

You can ring 'PIP' on the same matter and get 3 different answers.  :o

I don't understand why they continue to employ 'advisors' that don't understand the basics.  They must realise the advice they give directly impacts on people's lives!?

How did the 0.1 typo occur out of interest?  Was it meant to be a '1'?  That would bump them up to the 8 points needed for a standard award if so.  :)

If there is 0.1 going spare, I'll take it, I'll stamp it on my forehead.

Anyone copies that, I'll sue!!  :)
