Hi,
I have applied for new style esa, and I have just received a capability for work questionnaire to fill out, I would like to know is the telephone assessment the same as the pip telephone assessment?

Also I would like to know rather than applying for esa can I just apply for UC on its own?
Thanks in Advance

Hi there @greenpatts23 I can answer the first part of your post, the Work Capability Assessment (WCA) isn't the same as PIP. This is because PIP is about how things are for you day to day outside work, and WCA is about your fitness for work and work activities,
Does that make sense?

Hi @Alex_Scope
thank you for getting back to me, oh ok so in the telephone assessment for WCA are the questions they ask will be different?0 -
For the WCA they will want to know how your conditions affect you day to day. They will be assessing your ability to do any type of work because it's not about the work you can't do, it's about the work you can do.
UC is a means tested benefit. Whether there's any entitlement will depend on your circumstances. If you live with a partner you'll need to claim as a couple. If you have savings/capital of more than £16,000 you're excluded from claiming.greenpatts23 said:Also I would like to know rather than applying for esa can I just apply for UC on its own? Thanks in AdvanceIf you claim UC at the same time then the ESA will be deducted in full from any UC entitlement. You can use a benefits calculator to check entitlement. https://www.entitledto.co.uk/benefits-calculatorIf it shows there's some entitlement then you'll need to make sure you report your health condition when you claim. You will then need to provide a fit note within 7 days of that.
