Hi everyone I received a text yesterday awarding pip I’m get to receive a letter with details. I am due a limited capability assessment Saturday and wondering if I should tell the assessor I have just been awarded pip. I’m aware it’s two different benefits but would it help if I mention it. Thank you x

You can do @hopefulbea if it helps you to feel more confident :) I wish you the best of luck for Saturday, let us know how it goes for you.

If I haven't said already, congratulations on your PIP award!

My partner won a universal credit tribunal in March this year, and was awarded LCWRA and part of the reasoning (it was mobility related) was that she had been assessed as being able to walk less than 50m in the PIP Assesment, the panel confirmed she could not use a manually propelled wheelchair. I’d definitely include your pip award, and if it’s mobility related any evidence that shows you couldn’t manually use a wheelchair.

Little upset today I spent my morning being sick through anxiety waiting from 9am-12 for my assessment and no one called. Not sure what to do now. I would have rang the health advisory service to see why but I just had no energy left

I'm so sorry they didn't call and you were kept waiting @hopefulbea. Hopefully someone will update you on Monday as to what happened. Sometimes appointments do get cancelled last minute due to unforseen circumstances but that doesn't help the person sat waiting!
I hope you're able to find a way to relax and feel a little better this evening. Do you have any plans that would help take your mind off it?

@Adrian_Scope good morning I’m sorry for the long response. I finally had my assessment Monday. It wasn’t pleasant they mentioned trauma I hadn’t originally put on my form which caused me to break down. Not sure why they mentioned pregnancy losses but I’m quite unhappy about it. No updates as of yet just praying I get the outcome I hope for so I don’t have to go through it all again in appealing. I don’t have any hobbies atm due to lack of concentration/motivation but I would like to go back to reading and maybe try yoga/meditation in the future. Also a question I’m not sure if you have came across any parents who have self harmed but I’m panicking as it was mentioned can they contact authorities or is it confidential. (My children are not at risk) thank you Bianca

Hello @hopefulbea I'm glad the assessment is over for you now, they really can be upsetting to go through, so well done. In answer to your last question, this will likely be part of their safeguarding protocols.

If (and only if) there is a very high risk to yourself or your children, then the information may well be shared with your local authority for them to action further support. Does that make sense?

Personally I find meditation and mindfulness can really help me to slow down and lessens my anxiety, so that sounds like a good idea to try in future.

Please ask us if we can help with anything further, and we'll do what we can. Take care this week!

@Adrian_Scope Thank you this helps. Think I was just very anxious, doesn’t help other people who have no knowledge of mental help putting things in my head about sharing sensitive information. I have self harmed in the past and was honest in saying I sometimes have thoughts about what would happen to the children if I was no longer here but nothing to worrying. Thank you again

@AlexW_Scope Good evening Alex I just wanted to update you and also query a letter I received on my journal today. They have finally awarded me Lcwra dated 16/07/23 there was no information as to when it will start or information if I will be entitled to back pay. I submitted first sick note 12/1/23 without any gaps.
My assessment period is 29th-28th and I am usually paid on the 5th. I have tried to work it out and think I may be entitled to two months please can you confirm this thank you. So grateful been an awful few months of worry and added anxiety I’m really thankful of the support here on scope x

Your waiting period will be Jan to April. LCWRA starts from AP 29th April to 28th May and first payment will be 5th June. This means they owe you 2 months LCWRA element up until 5th July.

Any money owed will be paid separately to your usual monthly money and often takes quite a few weeks to pay it.
