Work allowance and Univeral Credit - what jobs can I do?

Hi everyone,

I've been told I have a work allowance in regards to my UC, I also receive PIP. But I would like to work part time, would working contradict my claim for benefits?

I have a mental disability that means I struggle but I would like to try with part time work.

Many thanks,
x

You will only have the work allowance if you either have children on your claim or you’ve been found to have either LCW or LCWRA.
There’s no limits on what work you can do or how many hours you work. If you’ve been found to have LCW/LCWRA you do need to be careful that the work you do doesn’t contradict the reasons why you were found to have those. No one can tell you if it will because one knows how your conditions affect you. Or what reason you were placed into either of those groups.

You will have a work allowance if you have LCW/LCWRA or you have responsibility for a child.
It really depends on what you was awarded for. It won't affect anything right now but may come up when you are re-assessed, reviews have only just started back up.

My advise is to go for it. If all fails then you are still 'protected' as you don't have any work related commitments.

PIP continues and you don't need to report working unless your needs have changed significantly. Receiving PIP and UC alone without LCW/LCWRA/child will mean you won't have a work allowance.
