Hi
I have now received my backdated payment for child’s DLA from my tribunal and now seeing how I can backdate my disability element of universal credit- I have contacted universal credit -
1. Will they backdate it from a year ago when I did dla claim form?
2. And how long will it take?

It will be paid from the assessment perod in which you rang to start the DLA claim off. It could take a few weeks to receive what's owed. They will first need to recalculate your past statements to work out how much you've already been paid against what you should have been paid. You will then receive the difference between the two. Once this is done you'll receive a letter on your journal and it will be paid into your bank.Once the statements are recalculated they will replace the old ones so you may want to take copies now.If the DLA includes either mid/high rate care then you can claim carers element for looking after them (providing you don't claim the LCWRA element for yourself)0
