Hello, does anyone have experience with tribunal PIP daily living for a type 1 diabetic young person. What was the reason and decision? We have a hearing this month and I'm a bit stressed about it.

PIP isn’t awarded based on any diagnosis. What they consider is how your conditions affect you against the 12 PIP activities. 

For this reason it’s impossible to compare 2 people because we are all affected differently by these conditions. You may get 1 person affected considerably and another that isn’t affected as much. 

During the hearing the claimant will be asked questions related to how their conditions affect them. Impossible to tell you what they will be asked because no one knows how they are affected.

As Poppy123456 said, PIP isn't awarded on diagnosis alone it's based off of how it affects you in which plenty of people live with type 1 diabetes and live a relatively normal and independent life (this does not go for everyone) I have a rare form of genetic diabetes and while this was listed in my form, it did not help me score any points - other than the needing help (reminders) to take medication and help test my blood sugar - just speak honestly about the ways you need help and how you feel and what happens when it drops or goes to high, what it stops you being able to do and if you need someone to help you manage any daily part of it.

The only question they asked in relation to my diabetes was how am i coping with it, it can be debilitating which a a lot of people don't understand. The point of the tribunal for you would be making them understand especially if it's one of the only medical conditions effecting you, good luck!
