Following a recorded tp assessment yesterday. After 2 calls to capita finally got a code to access the recording that they had emailed me. Then found the last 20 minutes of the assessment missing! Rang again and got call back saying there was technical error but don’t worry if I am not satisfied with assessment there is MR? My report is not available yet as it’s gone for random check but even if I am not happy with it I have no proof of last third of conversation and nothing apparently I can do about it!!

Don't stress yourself, it's not great, but if you have to do a MR, do it in writing - use the official form, give lots of 'real world examples', you know what you were asked and how you would have responded to those 'descriptors', so although it's not been recorded. you can still address the points in the MR.

People do MR and Appeal without recordings successfully.

For future reference you can also record the assessment yourself. You just need to tell them before the assessment starts. You can use your phone to record it.

Do they just get recorded as standard now? I've noticed a few people saying theirs have been recorded. I can't use the phone anyway but this would just be an extra barrier for me to
No, they are not automatically recorded. You need to request it or record it yourself. Same applies to all assessments and not just telephone.

The technology is there for them to record every Assessment, make life easy for everyone, but they aren't in the business of doing that. There are more 'barriers' then The Grand National.
