Hi I have recently applied for pip and I have been given the the Enhanced Rate for the Daily living and mobility, I applied in February 2023 and have just received the letter but they say it can not be backdated because it is a renewal. This is my first claim for the Daily living with pip, so not sure how they say it is a renewal. as anyone else had a similar problem.

You say it’s your first time for daily living but were you claiming the mobility part previously? If so and it was a review started by DWP then usually it’s paid from the date the decision was made.0

Hi Poppy, yes I have been claiming mobility for a long time but not the daily living part, I applied for the Daily living in March and was just awarded it 3 day's ago also it was a new claim not review. I have spoken to pip this morning because they have said my first payment will be 27th September and also no back pay from when i first applied so now they are looking into it, so not sure how long this will take maybe another 5 month's.0

If you reported changes then providing you had the increased difficulties for at least 3 months then it should backdated from the date you rang to report the changes.0
