Hello, I have had a "bad back" for 50 years or so. about 1996, I seriously injured it, had back surgery, which did not repair my back. but I kept working. I was in pain, but I modified most of my duties, and if i did get hurt bad enough that i could not work for a few days, my employer understood, and did not give me any trouble about taking time off to heal up enough to come back to work. as time went on, my back kept worsening, and I had to start taking narcotics. in less than a year, I just no longer could work, and my doctor told me to stop working and sign up for disability. that was 2002. well, things have been mediocre at best. and I have been talking about getting parts of my spine fused. I have issues in my lower, mid, and neck areas. one doctor that I talked to many years ago was more than happy to fuse 3 vertebra in my lower back. To happy. the last doctor I talked to (about a year ago) said he would fuse them. but he was not so eager. he said that if he did fuse them, it would only be a short time before he would have to fuse one either above or below because I would just transfer the loads there. I am hoping to find out as much information as i can about having my spine fused. either in sections, or the whole thing. I am so tired of the pain. and in the last 6 months, i have started to walk hunched over. which is not helping me as far as pain is concerned. I listened to a podcast with my son, where Hulk Hogan was being interviewed by Joe Rogan. And Hulk was talking about how little pain he is in. I know that I am not him. and I know that he has WAY BETTER doctors than I will have access to. but the thought of being pain free has to rival that of a prisoner wanting to be released from jail. is there any hope of ever being pain free? doctors only know what is reported back to them. I want to hear it straight from people who have had it done. I would seriously appreciate feedback from people who have been operated on and have had their spines fused. Thank You in advance!
