Autism and obsession

I'm still awaiting an assessment for Autism and Adhd.  I have recognised I've had obsession since as far back as I can remember.  Sometimes they can take over alot of other stuff . I'm accepting that I have obsessions and its part of who I am .

@Strawberry1 It's great to hear that you have recognised that in preparation for your assessment. I hope you hear about it soon <3

    Are you meaning OCD?
Yes, I have it, it is entirely separate to autism but a lot of autistic people have it. Again I've had it for years, maybe life, but did not realise what it was and thought it was just me.
Yes, it is time consuming, mentally and physically draining, and not what most people think it is!

Thank you both @Bettahm and @Hannah_Scope . I need to look into OCD  a little more . In a respect I am glad it's an Autistic trait though.  Thank you again.

Obsessive, intrusive thoughts and then the things you are compelled to do to get rid of these thoughts on a daily basis.
    That's my understanding of it.
    Like a ritual.

I had the 1st stage assessment back in 2019 & was put on the list for the main 1, heard nothing since, only that they're dealing with urgent cases & I don't meet that criteria
So I have to go on waiting & hope eventually I'll get it as there's a very strong case that I have some form of it & have since I was a kid

If you were put on the list after the first stage they believe you most likely are autistic. Was told that at my diagnosis. Had a two year wait from first stage to full diagnosis but believe its longer now.
Never heard anything about urgent cases, maybe that's a new one, nhs waiting lists etc

So sorry they've dragged this on so long @Kaala, the waiting list for ASD and ADHD assessments is currently about 2 years and getting longer.  But you can skip the queue a bit if you go via Right to Choose. This means you get to pick who does your assessment and can save many months of waiting.
