Hi Everyone, I recently received an ASD diagnosis and have now begun a degree course via distance-learning. I was delighted to discover this community of like-minded people for a little day-to-day fellowship and inspiration!

    Welcome.

Well done on starting a degree. I am looking into distance learning myself. What subject did you choose, out of curiosity?

Hey there @Hedgesparrow and welcome to the community from a fellow late diagnosed autistic. :)

If you wanted to stick around and have a chat or play some games, I highly recommend our Coffee Lounge and Games Room.  Though as Mustang has asked, I'd love to hear more about your new course?

Thank you 66Mustang and Albus! I am studying Creative Writing (online) at Falmouth University - it's been a brilliant experience so far and lovely to have a level playing field with my peers. The teaching on my course at Falmouth is superb, with the option of attending live seminars via zoom, or alternatively accessing the recorded seminars whenever best suits. The lectures are all recorded and accessed through VLE, and the tutors really engage with students giving thoughtful and detailed feedback for each assessment. The new online courses offer an experience every bit as rich as attending face-to-face university studies, I am able to interact with all my peers, post work in progress, offer and receive critique, chat about non uni stuff etc etc. If you are considering returning to studying I would thoroughly recommend it, I started the course as a way of restoring my battered self esteem, but the benefits are so much richer and wider than this:))

    Sounds great @Hedgesparrow

It's reassuring to hear you feel you are on a level playing field with peers, that it doesn't feel like a compromise compared with a "brick and mortar" university.

Welcome to the community @Hedgesparrow! Your new course sounds interesting, I'm really glad you're having a good time so far. What kind of creative writing do you like to do?

I hope you'll find the community a good place to find friendship and support :)
