Hi everyone
I currently rent my mums home (she owns it), I’ve lived here 13 years with my husband and 21 year old daughter who is a full time student, my mum rents a bungalow privately,
she now faces eviction due to landlord selling his bungalow so she wants to move in with me,
she has disability and pension
will her income affect my ESA, I’m also on disability and husband is carer,
of course we will lose housing benefit entitlement and mum knows she will have to pay the council tax
im just concerned about Losing my ESA
as I may have to find other accommodation
thanks

It’s will not affect your ESA. Though I’m very surprised she claims housing benefit for help with the rent where she currently lives because she has the property you live in, which you also claim for help with the rent.

Does her local Authority know she has a property that she doesn’t currently live in?

No she doesn’t claim housing benefit where she lives in private bungalow
I claim housing benefit as I rent her house, and I was stating I understood I won’t receive HB or council tax when she moves in with me as she pays both of these in her bungalow at the moment and yes the local authority knows as I had to declare my relationship to the landlord on making my HB claim

Then it won't affect your benefits. Apart from housing benefit, which you know will stop.
