Permitted work rules apply when claiming ESA. The maximum you can earn is £167/week and the hours are less than 16 hours. If you work 16 hours or more a week then your ESA will end. https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/employment-and-support-allowance-permitted-work-form/permitted-work-factsheet
They will not automatically "put" you on UC. You would need to claim that yourself.0
