Good afternoon all, I hope the weather is as sunny as it is here NE ( sunshine but cold ), Spring is making an appearance YAY.
So I'm looking for advice I've tried Google to no avail.
I got my pip notification to say I was awarded it this was, a text I'm waiting for a letter. I've rang the automated line and the answer was I'd be paid on the 23rd of February, I know the amount but not sure if this is the first initial payment or if will it be the payment you get going back to the date of the claim and do you get it backdated. Please help clarify the confusion.

Hi @Kazza1973 - & welcome to the community. The info from the automated lines isn't always correct, so, as you know you've been awarded PIP, I'd ring the PIP enquiry line & wait to speak to someone. You should then be told what rate of PIP you've been awarded for either/both of the components.
If this is your first claim, then you'll be owed from the the date you rang to start this claim. The automated line may be correct, possibly giving the amount you'll be paid every 4 weeks. When you get your decision letter it will indicate what that is, & how much money is also owed.
You can also check here to see if the amount you heard corresponds with any of the rates of PIP: https://www.gov.uk/pip/how-much-youll-get

Heya @Kazza1973 and a big welcome from me too!

Congratulations on your award. As Chiarieds has said, the automated lines have known to be wrong.  For my PIP claims, I'd always received the back pay first, then the standard monthly payment afterwards.  Though I got the letter telling me the backpay was being paid a week after it actually showed in my account.
