Hi all
I have recently been awarded Enhanced Mobility PIP which i am pleased about.
I applied about 2/3 years ago for the same reason but was turned down. I am wondering if this means I should be eligible for my award to be backdated to my first application or if that isn’t posible.

Hi @nholmes85, thank you for joining our community
I hope you find what are you are looking for here! Congratulations on finally getting the PIP award you deserve.
Unfortunately it won't be backdated to 2/3 years ago. I am actually in a similar boat, I am going through a second PIP application for the exact same reasons I applied in 2018. I was rejected then and in too bad a mental state to appeal. Even if I get awarded it now I will not be able to get it backdated. They only backdate to when you started your current application. It is frustrating I know, it does feel like they often reject just in the hopes you won't bother appealing.
I'll also move this to our PIP section of our community, so others who have had similar experiences can maybe share them too.0 -
Very similar! I felt too upset to appeal as it was a very confronting experience first time round almost justifying to someone my lifelong experience.
Thanks so much for your reply and good luck with your application.
