Any others with no leg pain? Is this really spinal stenosis?

I have severe lower back pain when I walk or stand. Been going on for 7 years. Diagnosed with severe L4&5 spinal stenosis according to MRI. Pain does not extend down my legs but have buttock and groin pain on left side along with calf muscle cramping. Is this really spinal stenosis as I’ve read most people have leg pain. Scheduled for a laminectomy but concerned it’s not the correct solution. Any others with no leg pain?
