ESA

Hi I've had a letter saying I will get ESA backdated to 7/1/24. I've had 2 randomn payments in the last couple of weeks which don't add up to what I'm owed. (About £200 short). Shouldn't the backdated amount just be paid in one go? I can't find anywhere where it says which day of the week I should be paid. The 2 payments I've had came on different days. Lastly, does anyone know roughly how long after sending back questionnaire that you get told if you're in support group. Thank you in advance. I know I may need to phone them but thought I'd try here first as whenever I've phoned before, different people tell me different things.

I would expect any money that’s owed to be paid as a lump sum, unless you’ve asked for it to be paid in instalments. Money owed can be paid any day of the week. If you think what you’ve received is incorrect then I’m afraid you will need to ring them.
Your usual fortnightly payment will be on the same day of the week each time and it’s different for everyone. I receive mine on a Wednesday.
Waiting times for assessments vary but could potentially be a few months, sometimes longer.
As it’s new style ESA you’re claiming then payments will be limited to 1 year unless placed into the Support Group.
