Hi. I'm confused and worried. Just read that everyone on most benefits are changing to universal credit this year. They say they give you 2 weeks pay up front but is it true you have to go 5 weeks min without any while they change you over? Also does the rent paid straight to them stop? Please help if anyone knows anything!

This year? Not unless you’re also claiming Tax Credits. If it’s Income Related ESA you’re claiming then you won’t be migrated across to UC until at least 2028, unless you’re also claiming Tax credits.Of course if a change of circumstances prompts a move across then you will need to claim it.1
