Hi hoping someone can help.
My first UC/housing element claim is due to be paid to me this week from 28march-27th april. They have said they are paying me £399 for housing element which is the old 2023 amount, i am over 35 and claiming 1 bedroom allowance, according to CAB who have been advising me and the local council website the housing allowance has increased to £500.01 from April 1st. I have contacted UC via phone and my journal to query this and they came back to me today on the journal saying the £399 is correct and i can apply for a housing discretionary benefit each month to help me with my rent, but the amount they are paying me is incorrect?
advice on what i can do about this? i thought maybe it was because UC increases are not being paid until the statement covers from a certain date in april but that doesn't seem to apply to housing element only UC regular payments from what i've read online. if someone could advise it would be much appreciated thank you

No one will receive the increase this month. The first increase applies from assessment periods that start on or after 8th April.LHA increases from 8th April along with all other elements. You will receive the increase in your next payment.£100 increase seems a lot. You can check the LHA rates here https://lha-direct.voa.gov.uk/ how many bedrooms you’re entitled to will depend on your circumstances.0

thanks poppy, they confirmed eventually via journal that it is just this month and next month will increase to £500.01 per month.
