Universal credit and local housing allowance
Do you get your full lha based on your entitlement.
I rent a 3 bedroom property (private) but I am entitled to a 4 bedroom as I need a carer overnight
I receive £500 towards my £895 rent
Would uc increase my lha please
Carer sleeps on sofa as I cannot find a 4 bedroom where rent is not ridiculous
Thank you

Heya @hazelsweetpea and welcome to the community. :)
I'm afraid I'm still learning about UC so cant give you a definite answer here unfortunately, but hopefully someone will be along soon to give you an answer. :)1 -
LHA applies to those that are privately renting. If you’re entitled to 4 bedrooms then that’s how much you will receive, unless affected by the benefits cap. You can check the rates for your area here

I’ve been told by uc that I’m not as I only live in a 3 bedroom
How do I get them to see their information is wrong please and thank you for replying

Are you currently claiming a disability benefit such as PIP/ADP daily living or DLA mid/high rate care? Do you live with a partner?

Here you go
Are you claiming the extra bedroom for your carer? Three bedrooms suggests you’re not.

I’m renting a 3 bedroom on my tenancy as it’s me my 16 yr old girl boy 11 autistic boy 10 and I have a carer .they say because my tenancy says 3 bedroom I cannot claim the 4 bedroom allowance I’m private renting

they saying I cannot claim an extra room for my carer as I’m only in a 3 bed they sleep on sofa

The amount of bedrooms you have is irrelevant. It’s what you’re entitled to that matters. What you can’t do is claim for more than what your rent liability is.

even 4 bedrooms would leave me to pay extra towards my rent. They point blank refusing saying unless my tenancy says 4 bed I cannot have the extra room on my claim.is there anywhere I can get the proof to show them please x

I think what they are saying is that because you only have 3 bedrooms, there's no extra bedroom for a carer so you're not entitled to that room because it doesn't exist. I can't find anything in the regulations that suggests this is possible. If you actually had that spare bedroom then it would be different.
I found a thread from Rightsnet that maybe helpful. Please have a read.
Other than that I'm afraid you'll need to get some expert advice from an agency near you and hopefully they will be able to give you some advice.

Hi
So I have a question I need help with, I won my tribunal yesterday and got award a extra bedroom allowance from the appeal I put in on 23 may last year.
How long does it take for universal credit to receive notification that my appeal was allowed?
Is it done electronically or via post?
I can't seem to get answers from uc about any timescale for a back payment of money owed to me

They are notified electronically on the same day as the hearing. It can now take up to 8 weeks to pay what is owed and put the award into payment.
