I wondered whether I could reach out to people with spinal stenosis or spinal arthritis as I am in agony and I feel a the end of my tether. It is affecting my life so much due to restrictions on mobility and being able to get on and do normal activities. Is there anyone out there who is also suffering like this . It’s unbearable pain and I am thinking is this just me being a wimp . I would appreciate any communication with people who understand.
Kind Regards

Hi there @helenmap and welcome to the community. :)

I'm sorry to hear your conditions are affecting your life so much. Are you in regular contact with your GP about this? Do they know how you're feeling? Any pain is bad pain, so I'm sure you're not being a wimp at all!

Hi Helenmap, so sorry to hear of your pain from spinal stenosis, I've just been diagnosed recently with this too and I understand completely the pain you're having, it not only affects your lifestyle but your sleep too, you're definitely not being a wimp.

You don't say whether you're on medication but I assume you are since you have been diagnosed with this terrible condition, personally I've been prescribed anti-inflammatory and pain relief tablets (the ones you can also buy over the counter) and also baclofen to reduce the pain thats transmitted thru the nerves, they do reduce it but not completely but it becomes more bearable and you can start to claim some of your life back.

Just weeks ago I was enjoying life and was reasonably healthy then I started to struggle walking, a pain in my hip moving to the centre of my back and down my legs. I tried to get an appointment with the doc but could only get a phone consultation (crazy right? getting a medical exam over the phone) I was given an appointment with the physio the following day. Physio wouldn't even give me pain relief and then watched me hobble out of the surgery. Went straight to A&E and was sent straight for an mri scan and examined me thoroughly before I was given the diagnosis.

I can't see the date of your post so I hope you have been able to get some relief and are feeling much better, I only came across this website yesterday and it's not a dedicated spinal stenosis forum and the posts that are related are all over the place.

Please update your post and let us know how you are, thoughts are with you. 🙏
