Hi, my name is KathyBee!

I have Arthritis in my spine and most joints. I am an Autistic adult. I’m absolutely still reeling from a capita assessment over the phone. It was brutal and I think I may have messed it up for myself. It was 2 1/2 hours long! Has anyone else experienced that?

Hi @KathyBee and welcome to the community 😊 I'm sorry to hear your assessment experience was really bad. Two and a half hours sounds incredibly long! Is this about PIP assessment?
My own experience was okay, not so bad, but when I read the report it was clear they'd not really listened at all and misrepresented several things I'd said because I was too vague or ambiguous with my wording.

yes, I thought it was a review, but turned into an acquisition. I know things I said could be taken out of context. S’pose I just have to wait to see what she wrote. I feel it’s disgraceful to put a disabled person through that process. I’m dependent on my mobility car, and the thought of loosing it is keeping me awake at night.

Incase you have to go through it you may want to read through the Mandatory Reconsideration process! We have an advice page on it here:
I've also moved this to our PIP section incase you have further questions 😊

Sometimes assessments can be that long. It depends on how many questions they needed to ask. Usually if you haven’t given enough of information in the form the assessment can be longer. The length of time the assessment took, is no indication of what the decision will be.
Once the report is returned a decision can take up to 12 weeks.

thank you. I’ll keep that in mind. I keep thinking of all the stupid things I said. I need to prepare for different outcomes.
