Worried uc migration

Hi

I am on ESA Income Related Support Group, also PIP both higher rate. I am worried as I have seen that UC is about £391 a month, on my benefit now ESA Support Group I get £481 a fortnight, that is going to be a big drop for me, plus having to wait five weeks. Have I read into this wrong. I am really worried as I have Aspergers amongst other things and I don’t know how I am going to cope - I am too I’ll to work.

You've misunderstood what you've seen. As you're in the Support Group you'll be entitled to the LCWRA element from the start of your claim. Therefore it would be standard allowance, LCWRA element, housing element (if you claim for help with the rent) as well as Transitional Protection element, so you won't be worse off when you do migrate across.

Your Income Related ESA and housing benefit (if you claim it) will continue to be paid for 2 weeks once you submit your UC claim. Then they will stop.

Your first UC payment will be 1 month and 6 days after submitting your claim. You can also request and advance payment but this needs to be repaid back and your future payments will be reduced.

PIP continues as normal.

Thank you Poppy truly appreciated you have always been very helpful to me. I get housing benefit it paid to housing - does that change where it paid to me for me to pay it, also same with council tax? It is all very confusing just wish they left it how it was.

You're very welcome. When you do claim UC in the future you can ask them to pay your landlord directly. Council Tax Reduction isn't part of UC and will still be claimed from your local Authority. It will likely be recalculated based on your UC entitlement.
