pip review enquiry

Hi,
I sent my review forms back in october 2023 as my claim was due to end in april 2024. I received a letter stating my award was extended by a year and have received a few texts stating my review will be progressing as soon as possible etc.
Today i received and unexpected phone call, the man asked me 2 questions about the information i provided and said that he was going to continue my award for another 2 years and that i would receive a letter in the next 7-10 days.
Im slightly confused, it all sounds positive but im not sure if it was an assessor or a decison maker etc because i didnt think they would inform me over the phone without an assessment. Has anyone had something similar or heard of this happening?
Thank you :)

Sounds like it was a decision maker and not an assessor. For reviews, your file is sent to a decision maker first to see if a decision can be made without the need to send it to the health assessment providers. The decision maker will look at everything you send, as well as any other evidence you previously sent and come to a decision from that.
Now you just need to wait for the decision letter.

Yes he did state that my form and evidence provided enough information for him to make the decision but he wanted to clairfy my medication and the amount of physio therapy i need to do now that my health has worsened.
So the decison maker is able to provide me with the information on the award and length?
Yes i will await the letter before breathing easy lol. I just needed some clarity because i wasnt expecting that call today.
Thank you for responding poppy. I appreciate your time

A decision maker is the person that makes the decision so yes, they can tell you. If they ring like this they don't usually warn you in advance.

Thank you poppy.
He was friendly and apologised for the unexpected call. I am extremely relieved to not have to do another full assessment, only thing is i would have liked a longer award time. was give 3 and a half years first but i will be grateful for any length as i dont want to be rude.

What number do they usually call on?

Usually a 0800 number, if it’s a decision maker. If it’s the health assessment providers then it could be a withheld number.

Thankyou Poppy. Hope you’re keeping well, and managing to get in the garden (between the downpours!)

You're welcome. I'm ok thank you, though a little stressed. Thank you for asking, that's very kind of you.
Ah yes, the rain, we've had more than enough. I managed to mow the lawn today before I rained, that's a start. Garden Is looking lovely though.
I hope you're keeping well too!
