Disabled access door

I requested an access door to my main door of the apartment building months ago because I’m severely struggling to open the door and it’s my only point of access in and out of the building.. it’s actually causing me more pain.. my association came and fitted an access door IN THE WRONG BUILDING a month ago… the building is next door… they’ve made a huge mess up and now they are stating they “may not be able to give me one because I must understand the costs” and I’ve told them it’s not my fault they messed up immensely and it’s not fair for all the tenants next door who are not disabled to have a disabled access automatic door and I’m still stuck struggling daily to get in and out of my home… I’ve not had a response from my housing officer since last week when they told me it would be too costly and I don’t know what I’m meant to do… what I do know is they’ve sent a regular engineer yesterday to rip out what they did install next door and didn’t send the contractor who fitted it.. I can barely open my main door, I am disabled and they have made me feel like rubbish. I don’t understand why they didn’t rectify it right away when I literally rang them and emailed them whilst he was installing it there and told them they’re doing the wrong building.. What do I do? I don’t know where I stand from a legal standpoint either and they know I have mental health issues I think they’re trying to avoid installing it because they wasted 3/4 thousand on installing it in the wrong building but my opinion is that’s not my fault it’s theirs and they shouldn’t have made such a ridiculous mistake in the first place. I am so upset.

Hey there @Jackson87 apologies that no one has been able to answer your questions. Due to the nature of the community, sometimes it can take a while for people to answer, as they're all here in their free time.

If the people who installed it aren't answering your messages, it may be worth contacting your local council, or even your MP about this.
