Awarded PIP, just received their text. Will I receive a rebate?

Hi there,

I applied for PIP back in 2022 but was not awarded it.

I re-applied and have just been awarded (text notification). Will I get a rebate from when I made my first attempt in 2022?

Warm regards :)

Update: called them up (the wait felt like infinity!).. I am getting rebate but only a fifth of what I calculated.. was passed to manager, she could see previous application & a mandatory reconsideration request (she's passed this on for review, from the tone in her voice I think that will probably get denied..). Still over the bloody moon, more or less double of what I'm currently getting monthly and another plus I won't have to re-apply until 2028, thought it'd be 2025! :)

Hey @Rosie_Scope thank you.. ah it's such a weight off my shoulders as I was really struggling for money.. those worries are gone now and no more overdraft fees!

Thanks for the welcome, some interesting posts about extra help I wasn't aware of.

Ciao, see you around the Scope ether Rosie.

I would say it's highly unlikely they will backdate the claim to an earlier date. Your previous decision was from a different claim. What you should have done at the time was continue to Tribunal if you disagreed with the decision.

Yea I agree @poppy123456 sucks really, I thought I'd get it the first time but turned out I got 0 points so it was highly disappointing and didn't have it in me to fight for it at the time (felt useless because of the score, didn't think I'd ever be able to qualify)… shame I didn't find this forum back then. Oh well, onwards and upwards.

It's easier said than done to proceed with challenging a decision after a refusal. At least you've now been awarded which is a good thing.
