Hi. I’m already claiming P.I.P as disable and also have qualified for a personal assistant 20 hrs a week. My issue is now my career has brought to my attention that she will be / has put in for P.I.P for her self. Now she’s worked for me along time and there has been a few issues but none to qualify backing this. But I don’t know where this leave me with Social services and my claim and how to deal with this situation .

Hi @kte82 and welcome to the community.

Just so I understand, does your carer intend on stopping work so you'll need to find a new carer?

Your carer claiming PIP for herself makes no impact on you or your claim. You are able to provide care and also require it, and you can claim PIP and work, even fulltime. You do not need to do anything with your own claim.

hi. I’m not sure what she intends to do. I think personally that she’s waiting on the results of her claim before she decides her future plans. This is what I’m struggling with. Finding this all abit Under handed personally. Like I have mentioned there has been trouble brewing I think she wants me to fire her as resignation will not help her situation. I believe I’m being used TBH. Tried to confront this head on asked her out right. But I don’t believe she being honest . As lighter duties can’t work in my case as she runs my household as well as my care and cutting down her her hours also has an impact when it comes down to reassessment of contributions to my cost of care This is what she would need to declare that is happening that her work is impacting on her health and changes have been made for the Dwp to help with her health needs that by the way are not or haven’t been a problem up till now. She’s playing the system and me But she’s worked for me over 6 yrs and I have a conscious and feel bad bad for knowing this to be true and putting it out there. Let alone what to do about it …..

It sounds like a difficult situation and I understand your worry. Could you contact Social Services and explain what's happening so they're aware? They could maybe put a plan in place? I wouldn't want you to be without a personal assistant if she decides to leave.

Hey @kte82, I know this is probably a very worrying time for you, as you are unsure if the care you need will continue. You can apply for PIP and continue working however, of course the conditions may also mean a reduction of work. A health professional will assess your assistant and they will determine how much her conditions affect her. You may not know all of what is going on with her personal life and everything about how her conditions affect her, even though you interact a lot. It's likely a difficult time for the assistant too. As you have experienced yourself, the PIP process is not an easy one to go through.

If it is the case that the assistants conditions means she cannot care for you as much, you are still entitled to that care. It will just have to be provided by someone else. Has the assistant said that she will be cutting back on work because of her conditions? I just want to check if this is a known fact that she will be cutting her care hours!

I'd ask anyone else who is also concerned, if you could please hold back on posting, it's been mentioned now and a pile of negative comments can make the process more difficult.
