You will need to wait for UC to make a decision on how much exactly you owe them before you can pay it back. If your capital is still over £16,000 at the moment you will not be able to reclaim.

let them know in your journal. I had to take out some pension early to get by which temporarily put us over £6k threshold. U/c checked back 4 months of bank statements. So just all be honest not to end up having to pay back.

As you had capital of more than £16,000 then your claim should have been closed. Due to that reason you will need to start a new claim from scratch but you can't do that until your capital is below £16,000.

If your claim included the LCWRA element then you will need to provide a new fit note and go through the process again if your claim actually closed due to excess capital.

Hi @bowbow, welcome to the Scope community 😊 Sorry to hear you've had issues with overpayment. Hopefully it can all be resolved. Did you savings go about £16,000 can I ask?

You can pay them back, but don't deprive yourself of capital to get under certain thresholds, as they will still count any capital they considered to have been purposefully deprived.

I'll move this to our Universal Credit section while we still help you figure this out
