Benefits help

I’ve got a long term health condition which means when I’ve been able to work it’s only been part time. I gave up work about 10 years ago due to my health but was in too much pain to apply for benefits and my consultant kept saying the next procedure will help. Well I’m 10 years, 3 spinal ops and dozens of other procedures later. I tried uni this year, but back not up to it. Which has made me realise it’s not going to improve now. My husband works so can’t get any means tested benefits and I’ve not got any NI stamps for the last 8 years. Does anyone have any ideas of how I can start to get NI stamps/claim a disability benefit in my own right? I do get pip.

Hi,
In this case I think you'd be eligible to make a 'credits only' claim for New Style ESA. You will have to go through a work capability assessment, and you won't get any money, but that should give you NI credits from now on as long as you are deemed to have limited capability for work.

Have you used a benefits calculator to check entitlement to Universal Credit? I know you said your husband works but that doesn’t mean there’s no entitlement. It will depend on your joint circumstances. https://www.entitledto.co.uk/benefits-calculator/
Disability benefits will include PIP which you’re already claiming. This doesn’t include NI credits.
I don’t know your circumstances but if you dependant children and you claim child benefit you will receive NI credits up until your youngest reaches 12 years old.
Other than that it would be New style ESA as mentioned by OverlyAnxious above. However, you will not be entitled to any payments.
You will need a fit note to claim this. https://www.gov.uk/guidance/new-style-employment-and-support-allowance
