Hi, my name is Liverpool1952! Would my son lose benefits if I put him as joint owner of new house?
I am moving house shortly and was wondering could I put my son as a joint owner,(I have no mortgage)because he is on ESA INCOME BASED and PIP enhanced(not motability though)and not working would he lose his benefits. I thought it would be better to do this now instead of waiting until I have passed away.

Hey there @Liverpool1952 and welcome to the community. 😊
I've had a look online for you and I've been unable to find a definite answer I'm afraid. But I know his PIP won't be affected. But I've added some more detail to your discussions title, so more people in the know will see it and hopefully offer some top advice. I hope that's ok?

If he's living with you then no because the house you live in is disregarded for means tested benefits. However, if in the future he moves out then this could cause issues with means tested benefits.
You also need to think about any potential future care you may need because giving away capital could be seen as deprivation of capital. For this reason before doing anything else you need to get some expert advice.
