Hi I have osteoarthritis in my toe no cartlidge left! It hurts really bad most days on and off. I've had steroid injection worked for a few weeks and thats it i take pain killers that dont relly help either. They are looking into operating on it. My mental health is effective badly my weight is creaping up I suffer from depression. I can't go gym or do the things I like to do. It has been suggested to me to apply for PiP can anyone help me with this. Do you think I would be awarded it? It sounds pretty stressful to apply.

Thanks in advance

Zoe

I can’t tell you if you could score enough of points needed for an award because I don’t know how your conditions affect you.

Best thing for you to do is have a read of this before deciding what to do. https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/personal-independence-payment-assessment-guide-for-assessment-providers/pip-assessment-guide-part-2-the-assessment-criteria#daily-living-activities

It’s a long read but well worth it and hopefully you’ll have more understanding afterwards.

Hi @zozos, welcome to the community. Sorry to hear that your conditions have been affecting you so much.

PIP can be stressful at times, but lots of our members have been through the process so you wouldn't be alone if you decided to apply. As Poppy mentioned, it's all done on how your conditions affect you day-to-day, so it's difficult for anyone to say whether you'd qualify or not.

If you have a look at the descriptors in Poppy's link and see if you think you might score some points, that might be a good place to start.

If you have any more questions about the process please do ask away 😊
