Good morning,

I share custody of my 10 year old son with a rare condition. GAND. Me and his mum have a very amicable arrangement except for the mobility car supplied to transport my son

I’m not allowed to have it when I have him, as she is named owner of the vechile. So trips are all done in my own vechile, which is a works van. I’ve contacted notability and there answer was a ‘grey area’. Any one know anything on this please

if you are on the insurance and the child for whom the mobility car is used for is with you I can’t see it being a problem as long as the distance you live is no more than 5 miles away from where the vehicle is registered maybe phone the supplying garage of the vehicle and speak to the motability agent they should be able to help you further

The Motability scheme allows up to 3 named drivers on the vehicle.

If you are not listed as a named driver then you shouldn't be driving the vehicle. However, there is no reason that I can see for you not being added as a named driver in this case. It is usually the claimant who decides which drivers are allowed, though in this case it will be the responsible adult, which I assume is his Mum.
