Council asking for my bank account details to see savings

hi there I’m posting on behalf of my grandma, she lives alone and gets help from the council for rent and council tax, they are now asking to provide any savings or what money is in the account to prove what she has. Does she have to do this?

Yes, it is part of claiming help with rent and council tax.

My Mum recieves housing benefit and help with CT, her council does reviews quite often and she has to submit her bank statements.
