Children dla
HEllo I applied dla the child was just under the age of acceptance for motobility she has autism spectrum and delayed mental development which both conditions effect her behaviour ,loud noises, put her at rusk of harm and others suddenly she is gone without notice i gave dla evidence from the playschool she attended l also included a full run down of her need they awarded high rate care but by the there made the award could of applied motobility moving forward I received a review for high rate care needs I waited for an award notice but this dragged on the confusing part only for care and dragged on again i called them they said 10 year award for daily care high rate I asked about motibilty as I have not filled out anything they said we have awarded low rate 10 years I feel the award motobility should be higher as it is extremely challenging taking her out should I calk and ask for a claim back I don't know what to do
thankyou

Hi @frogspawn12, sorry to hear your daughter wasn't awarded the DLA level you feel she needs. The charity Contact have a page about qualifying for higher mobility that you might like to read:
Claiming DLA higher rate mobility
It lists a few tests to see if your daughter might be entitled to the higher mobility rate. They also have a helpline to ring if you're not sure and would like to speak to someone about it.
If you think she should have been awarded higher mobility, you could try doing a Mandatory Reconsideration. This means they'll look at your daughters case again and decide whether it should have been a different outcome. You can request a mandatory reconsideration for up to a month after the current decision was made. There's some guidance about how to do this on the Citizens Advice website:
Challenging a DLA decision - appealing against the decision - Citizens Advice
I hope some of our members might have some advice soon too, but best of luck whatever you decide to do 😊

Mandatory reconsideration ok for an award which is 1year ago still ok

If the decision on that award was made more than 13 months ago you are out of time to challenge that decision.
May I ask how old your daughter is? The reason I ask is because low rate mobility can only be awarded from the age of 5. From the age of 3 it's high rate mobility only.
