Transitional payment

Good afternoon,

I really hope I can get some answers with the problem I’ve got, I was in receipt of ESA and I was in the support group. I was receiving £471 every two weeks I was also receiving £191 every Monday as my daughter receives DLA I received the letter advising me that I must migrate to UC (university credit) so for a whole month I did receive the ESA and I didn’t receive the £191 for a month for my child tax credits so that comes to a total of £1706 I then after 5 weeks received a payment of £632 for my first payment of UC and a payment of £266 from ESA (as I have been granted to be paid every two weeks) So this doesn’t seem right to me as it also says I have had a transitional protection payment of £266 which I don’t seem to have received and when I look it up I should have received £500.
please please can anyone help me with this as I have now written 9 messages on my journal with not 1 reply this has made my anxiety go through the roof.

From Liz.

Is this your first UC payment?

What elements are listed on your statement please?

From the information you gave, I can't see that any elements are missing.

I also see you receive two UC payments a month.

So your total UC payment is £1264 a month.

New Style ESA is £138.20 per week, to have a matching monthly figure that is £598.86 (multiply by 52 & divide by 12).

Giving you a monthly income of £1862.86

Where do you feel the discrepancy is compared to your legacy benefits?

it was more the transitional payment ? I don’t think that’s been paid to me as surely I’d have had slightly going in to my bank ? And it was £200 whereas when I’ve checked with what I’m owed/paid it should have £500 ?

Transitional Protection is designed to raise your UC award, so at the time of transfer you aren't worse off.

If you were expecting your TP to be £500, is your total benefit income now £300 pm less than your legacy benefits?

The TP is paid with your UC payments, not separately. Each element is added up and bundled into one single payment (or in your case two payments).
