Hi when my child is 18, if they decide to live with me how will it effect my benefits? I receive support esa and pip. I will get carers allowance i know. But will they be able to have their own separate claim or work without my money being effected? TIA!

You will only be entitled to carers allowance if you're looking after someone that claims a qualifying disability benefit such as PIP daily living or DLA mid/high rate care.

Is your son or daughter still in full time non advanced eduction? or have they left? Do they claim a disability benefit theirself such as PIP daily living or DLA mid/high rate care?

The answers to the questions will determine the advice I give so can't advise further without that information.

You will still receive pip if you are claiming it for yourself even if your child is 18 and living at home as it is not means tested or related to other people in your home.
