brilliant that’s what I thought but someone on another group told me no. I had looked it up online so was really confused. This puts my mind at rest somewhat

You're welcome. Was that a Facebook group by any chance?

yes it was. The woman was insisting I was in the wrong and it would be a new claim but I was adamant it would be a change of circumstances one. It was driving me mad

I had a feeling it would be. I had a terrible experience from joining one of those quite a few years ago. It drove me crazy with all the misleading information people were giving out. I actually left the group in the end because I couldn't deal with it any longer.
If you're looking for benefits advice my advice is not to ask on any FB group. The best advice I can give about those groups is to click "leave group" and never return.

I think I’m definitely going to do that. It’s just conflicting left right and centre. I don’t want to do the wrong thing and get into trouble either so glad I came here and asked. Thank you so much

You're welcome. I think those groups should be closed down. You can always post on here if you ever need any advice about anything related to benefits. We are not experts but we have quite a few members with a lot of benefits knowledge.
Of course you can post anytime with any other advice you need. Or you can just join in with any discussions.
If you do move in with them just incase you don't know what do with your UC claims here's some advice for you.
You will need to log into your journal, if you have access to one and report a change. Then click living with a partner and report it there. You will then be sent a linking code which your partner uses when they report a change. Both of your claims will then be joined together.
Please also note that all of your journal entries and statements for both of you will be removed when both claims are joined.
