Hi everyone,

I am on long term sick, this time last year I was very ill, very I’ll and in hospital for some time, I can not but the reason why sorry

My question is, what do I need to do to stay off work, do I have to see my doctor regularly for the following reason, I get with work income protection insurance, so I get some wage, I am not entitled to any benefits at all, I see a consultant and will have to every 6 mths, my claim with income protection is looked at every six months to see if I’m still not fit for work, or if I am , I know in myself I am not bodily and mentally due to my illness, I am doing well and this shows in my medical records which the insurance requests to see, what do I do

Thank you for your help advice and your kindness

Hi @ohmygod I'm so sorry to read about your situation. It sounds like you've been through a lot. You don't need to share the reason why, that's personal to you.

I can empathise as to why you're worried. It's not always as black and white as the paperwork perhaps makes it seem. Has the consultant given you any indication on your recovery timeframes (from a physical perspective). It's definitely worth raising your concerns with them if the medical records aren't reflective of how your doing. They're not with you every day. Only you really understand just how you're feeling.

Have you spoken with your consultant or GP about the mental health side of this? If not, I'd definitely recommend doing this. They may be able to offer some additional support, and note this information on your record to support your case.

I hope this has been helpful and you get the support you need from the consultant, GP, and insurance company to put your mind at rest, so you can focus on being ok. That's the most important thing. 💛

    Best wishes,

    Holly.

    Hi@Holly_Scope

Thank you for your reply, I have made notes and will speak to my Doctors asap, I am petrified, I will be honest of my condition, the insurance company as already sent a letter to my GP on the 9th in my medical records it does say low mood and anxiety and the insurance company are already aware of my condition, I have not been out of hospital for 12 months yet, the results of my last blood tests where good and I’m worried the insurance company will read this as she is doing well so let’s get her back to work, I know I can not face work and I feel physically sick as I’m typing this right now, thank you for your kindness
