also I have signed up to do a open university course due to start nxt month will I still be able todo this will having a payment from student finance effect our housing benefit or will I have to cancel it its 12 hours a week

Student finance payments will be seen as income, so it will have an effect on any means tested benefits, we've got some information about it all here. Hope that helps. 😊
