PIP review

I have been informed previously that my PIP award will end in January 2026. This award had been extended during the pandemic. So I am expecting (possibly) that my award review letter would be sent to me round about now, a year before the award ends. However with all the backlogs and other changes we are being told about at the DWP, perhaps I should expect yet a further extension before the review. Can anybody give me any ideas or insights into what I might expect to happen?

Usually they contact you about 8 months before the award is due to end so I would expect the form around June time. I wouldn't expect your award to be extended just yet because usually they extend it from around 35 days before the award is due to end, if a decision hasn't been made on your review by that date. It will be extended for up to 1 year.

The backlogs would not prevent them sending the form out to you. If they have a mobile contact number for you then you may also receive a text telling you that your review has started and to expect the form in the post within the next couple of weeks. This is exactly what happened to me and the same for many other members here.

Thanks for this information Poppy, I had thought they started the review at at 12 months prior to the reward ending. 🙏🏼

Well my review form arrived in February. I took the best part of 3 weeks completing it. It took up most of my waking hours!

However I was mindful to take breaks / half days away from it. It can be all consuming, so it's important to try to not get totally overwhelmed!

It did get to me though, and was glad to finally send away. Can anyone give me any idea when I'll likely hear their first decision about the review? I know the whole process will take many months!

    With gratitude 🙏🏼

Sorry its impossible to answer that because there are huge back logs and imminent benefit changes to be announced by the government later this month but well done completing the form and a very warm welcome to the community.
