UC Review Meltdown

Like so many others on here, I got the dreaded review message on Friday. It didn't bother me too much at first until I checked the to-dos; 4 months bank statements by the 7th Feb. Now, amongst other stuff I have ASD, so 4 months means nothing to me, I need dates from and to as the savings accounts statements have to be ordered. 2nd hurdle, no photo ID. Messages are just sitting unanswered on journal so I rang them today. She says they will be in touch by 1800 on Friday. Meltdown ensued as there's no way I'll get the statements by the 7th so she's asked for an extension. 3rd hurdle; I've read they will want a PayPal statement. I sat until 0400 this morning trying to work out how to do it and I just can't 😢 I get why they are doing this but seriously, trying to focus your brain to get all the information they want, within the time frame, when it's doing it's usual gymnastics, is just horrendous.

@Doglover2 they are the directions I followed but no joy. I don't have an activity tab at the top so had to search for it. When I found it there was no download option 🤷‍♀️

@ToonLass66 Oh lordy, I was depending on that for when my turn comes

I'm sure I seen another way of doing it but I don't remember where.

If I find it I'll post here.

Otherwise I'm sure someone else on here will be of more help. Sorry.

@doglover2 that has worked for a lot of people. I'll try to uninstall and reinstall the app again. Thank you anyway 😊

@ToonLass66 I just logged into my PayPal account then I went to wallet and opened it, at the top it says Activity, I clicked on itand it gave me a list of my payments going out,I've nothing coming in,never have done. I don't know if that would be suitable as statements or not.

@Doglover2 sussed it! What a bloody faff, are you sitting comfortably?

Search 'statements' - click on second one down - then click on the highlighted 'download icon' text- then custom - then activities - fill in the dates etc - hit create report. Jobs a good 'un, sort of. You get an email saying it's ready to download but the link doesn't work for me so I had to repeat the above steps and it's sitting at the bottom. However, it won't download for me as a PDF, only CSV, whatever that is 🤷‍♀️ So I can do it now, I just can't get to it 🙄 I went to downloads and shared it as a PDF to my friends cat, opened it, and it auto downloaded as a PDF. There are no dates however, just asterix in the column. My heed is well and truly battered now 😤

@Doglover2 bloody ridiculous isn't? Do this, do that, and by this date or we can stop your money. Seriously, they don't care about folks like us tying ourselves in knots trying to download a statement. If they don't ask for it they're getting it anyway 😆 Anyway, we got there in the end 👌

@ToonLass66 won't let me download any way at all.Gets to the very end says download ready..click on it then it says error.

    Aarrggghhhhhh

I give up. 🤣 good luck.

@Doglover2 yeah that's what it does to me as well. I have to go back in as if I'm doing another one and it's at the bottom, that's the only way I can download it, and only in CSV. There has to a simpler way 😤

If people are using mobile devices, sometimes these things work better on laptop/desktop computers.

Also PayPal statements are not requested at the first stage. They are sometimes asked for after the telephone interview.

@Kimmy87 I've downloaded the past three months ,at least I know now how to do it and won't be flying blind when the time comes.

It's more a "Dummy run" than anything

    Thank you.

Everyone must ask the DWP what legislation they are using to demand bank statements. They told me they are using 38(2) which in my opinion is a PIP legislation giving them the right to get medical evidence NOT bank statements. They also MUST provide you with your rights to be informed (Personal Information Charter) if they haven’t at the point of collecting your data (financial information) it’s a breach of GDPR laws. I made complaints to the Data protection officer at the DWP & the ICO who conducted an investigation, told me in a phone call they were concerned DWP are breaching privacy laws. The ICO asked the DWP to consider redactions to bank statements to which they agree to look at, balancing the need for transparency in reviewing a claim and PRIVACY of an IRRELEVANT information. I’ve taken legal advice.

Why are people including PayPal. They mean bank statements.

I have never included PayPal, I have only ever shown a screenshot to show the balance is 0 as it's not banking.

@Kimmy87 yeah, I read it was after the phone call but I have to be prepared, I can't handle curve balls x

@whistles I read that they ask for them in the phone call if there are Paypal transactions on your bank statements. I sold some concert tickets and my friend sent me £30 for my birthday so they're on my statements x

With PayPal you can hold a positive balance (use it to keep money in) this is why they sometimes ask after the telephone interview for PP statements.

I buy and sell ebay so it usually will show something. The council review didn't query it, only cash I had withdrawn believe it or not.
