Claiming carers element

afternoon everyone. Hope everyone is ok. Could anyone help me with a query please, my son claims carers allowance and uc nothing else, he’s had both for 4 years. he’s recently had a review all was fine. Some one has mentioned carers element we have never heard of this, so we have turned to the knowledge on here for some advice/ help. Would he be untitled to carers element and how would he go about claiming it.

Does he recieve LCW or LCWRA with his UC?

no just carers allowance and uc but his carers is taken off his uc. Thank you for your reply.

LCW/LCWRA is part of Universal Credit.
If he definitely doesn't receive that as part of his UC award, then he will be eligible to claim Carers Element.
He needs to go to his Journal, select report a change, caring for someone
He can also ask for it to be backdated to when he qualified, even if that was several years ago.
Any lump sum in backpay would be disregarded from calculation of his capital for one year.

hi kimmy87.
another quick question, upon going in his journal selecting report a change and caring for someone it is giving 2 options “take time off from caring “ and “no longer caring for someone “ thank you again0 -
Okay, on his UC payment statements is Carers Element already listed? It currently pays £198.31.

no it just states carers

After the deduction for Carers Allowance, I would expect his UC award to be around £40 per month. Is that correct?
0 -
it’s a about £40 a week his uc

UC Standard Allowance is £393.45 per month, the deduction for Carers Allowance is £353.17 per month, which leaves £40 per month UC payable.
From your previous answers and thread he doesn't receive Housing Element or LCW/LCWRA so my calculation should be correct.
