Having UC pay rent directly

in Universal Credit (UC)

following on from my submission of migration yesterday.

They responded this morning about paying my rent to my housing association directly.

They said you have to contact your landlord/ housing association to ask them to send a request for payment

is that correct ? I thought they handle it.

Also if that’s correct would I do that now or wait for my two week run on when Housing benefit stops ?

    You can ask your HA to do that but UC can set it up without them doing that. If you do contact your HA you can do that now, you don’t have to wait 2 weeks.

    ok I did wonder as I thought it was handled by UC.

    I’ve emailed my housing association hopefully they can do that otherwise I will go back to UC and hope for someone who will do that.

    HA just got back to me an said that it is down to UC to request it not them. I guess back to UC I go to ask with the HA response.
